Marissa Meyer turned some of the most beloved fairytales into epic steampunk-space war stories that chronicled the lives of  Cinder, Scarlet, Cress   and  Winter . Yes, the character names also moonlight as the titles of their stories and you can probably guess which character was whom in the original fairytale that inspired them. That said, the plotting was inspired. A massive weaving of four major characters into one huge undertaking that doesn’t always run concurrent but always overlaps; leads up to the battle for the galaxy. Seems wildly familiar, huh? I do not have time nor do I believe it to be scientifically possible to read all the books my brain tells me I should read. Here are the top ten books from 2015, that I really hope to read one of these days. #1 --> Winter by Marissa Meyer must be read! I know, I know; but it's because "the end" books freak me out. No excuse, I know, since The Lunar Chronicles remain some of my favorite books to push onto others. #2 --> My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga shows up on all my favorite people's lists of must reads and so yeah... I really need to read this book even though... yet again I haven't! #3 -->  Uprooted by Naomi Novik   was  a book I really wanted to read. Actually purchased and then somehow ended up shuffled aside until viola! I have not read it yet. ...

The Frankfurt Book Fair also, takes place the beginning of October every  year and it is the place to be if you want to sell foreign rights and build some buzzy anticipation around novels that are hot in the USA, which is why, these short stories should find their way onto your e-reader. They are short and sweet and not so subtle in their attempts of drawing the reader in before the next installment of the books they're tied to come out.  If I were doing an overview lit class or more likely a workshop, I would include these short stories since they all provide examples of how to pull readers into a fandom without giving away too much of the story. Have any of you noticed the same names tend to show up every week? Rainbow Rowell has not written one thing that I have not fallen in love with nearly immediately. So yeah, anything and everything... I own all her books including the anthologies she has written for and will continue to buy her books unabashedly. Garth Nix is most excellent and I have adored him for a very, very long time. More  Lunar Chronicles  could not come at a better time! The end is nigh people and hearing that Marissa Meyer is going to do her best to expand upon the universe even if it means only the addition of shorts in an anthology featuring already been published  short stories  elsewhere, I still am beyond pleased. However, let's give this list a go, because there have been some wonderful books lately that I have specifically thought, why isn't this story being optioned for film or television.  1}  Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer : These fairytale retellings, that are a grunge-steampunk epic space odyssey remind me of the brilliance of Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer which means... The Duke and I, The Viscount Who Loved Me and so forth... these siblings and their spouses are hilarious, mostly because Julia Quinn has a way with witty, funny dialogue like no other.
